MISSION STATEMENT

At Sam's House, we embrace the future by providing a home, family, education, and love to abandoned, at-risk, and parentless children in Nepal. We believe that love, security and education are essential rights as well as key components of any child's ability to thrive in and contribute to the world. The people of Nepal, the kindness of their culture, and their devotion to family and friends inspire our organization.

Sam’s House is named in honor of Sam Rothchild, grandfather of one of our trustees. Sam came to the United States from Europe in the 1910s and lived in several children's homes in New York City before reuniting with his family. He credited his survival and education to those special families.

Financials

At Sam's House, financial and operating transparency are our highest values. We treat your donations with the same amount of concern we provide for the children in our care.  Less than five percent of the donations we collect go toward overhead and administrative costs, and no one on our US board draws any remuneration for their work.

We welcome your questions about our finances.  It is our highest priority to turn your dollars into direct services for the Sam's House children.

Our 990 tax filings: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021

WHO WE ARE

Sam's House is proudly an international partnership with Kopila Bal Griha, a Nepali non-profit that supervises and operates Sam's House in Pokhara, Nepal. Since our inception, this has been a collaborative project with our Nepali partners providing the vision and leadership, and Sam's House offering the support.

As such, we have two separate boards -- one in the US and one in Nepal. All of our trustees volunteer their time and efforts.
